BCHS is proud to announce our February Students of the Month! 9th Grade - LaKenzie Barber LaKenzie had a great first semester and is off to a great start in the second semester. In the first semester, She had all A's while taking a full academic load including CP Geometry and Spanish II as a Freshman. She also competed in Cross Country and Wrestling. When asked about LaKenzie, Coach Herrmann said about Cross Country, "Awesome! She was a hard worker and a great teammate who persevered and supported the team even while battling a painful injury for much of the season." Coach Williamson added, "LaKenzie has had a great wrestling season so far, including a 3rd place finish at a tough wrestling tournament in Kalamazoo. She practices and competes with intensity, pride, and passion." Mr. Thomas said, "She is a great student who is always on top of her academia and class expectation. Great kid all around." Mrs. Hertel said, "She is a strong student, leads by example, kind to others, always prepared, focused." Ms. Calnen added, "Quiet intelligence. Calm confidence. Steady motivation. Often earning top scores and finishes her work before the rest of the class, but you would never know it. She keeps that info to herself; she finds no need to brag. All around great kid." Chef Cole added, "LaKenzie is a good student in my class, she is always helping others in the kitchen, even if they aren't in her group." 10th Grade - Bruyn Hauger When I think of this student, I think of the words kind, hardworking, and humble. He is reliable and motivated, and he's always working to improve himself. He is a student who shows up every day for himself, his classmates, his teammates, and his friends. He puts in the effort and the time to be the best version of himself every day. He is not afraid to make a mistake because he sees mistakes as opportunities to learn. He is a brave and outspoken leader in our class. 11th Grade - Rusty Carpenter Rusty is a hardworking, resilient student who adds so much to our class by frequently sharing his opinions, ideas, questions, and insights. He takes challenging courses and does well in them across the board. In addition to his academics, Rusty is involved in extracurriculars, including tennis and robotics. Rusty consistently has a good attitude, and his sense of humor brightens others' days. 12th Grade - Jack Horning Jack has done very well academically so far this year. He shows responsibility for keeping up with his work and has a sense of maturity about him. He is open to debating tough topics in a civil manner, listening to the other side of an argument and actually thinking about what they are saying. He has a pleasant disposition about him and has been enjoyable to have in class!

This screwball comedy is a surefire crowd-pleaser, with classic Gershwin tunes, romance, exuberant production numbers, and a hilarious script poking fun at class snobbery in the Prohibition era of the 1920's. The storyline might be new to you, but you will recognize classic songs such as Fascinating Rhythm, Someone to Watch Over Me, S'wonderful, I've Got a Crush on You, Let's Call the Whole Thing Off & Lady Be Good.
