Congratulations to the BCHS students of the month for March! 9th Grade - Ben Velzy Ben continues to maintain the highest level of classroom diligence as he did in first semester. He is a hard working young man as well as an independent thinker. Beyond his high academic achievement, what I truly value is his regular contribution to class discussion. It offers not only his personal knowledge but also his unique perspective on historical concepts. The depth of our class discussions in large part begins with Ben's talking points. Thank you Ben. 10th Grade - Natalie Mastin Natalie is a dedicated student with a very bright future aheadof her. She makes goals for herself andher future, and she works towards themevery day. In our classroom, she is kind, friendly, and focused. When things don'tcome naturally to her, she doesn't justgive up. She keeps trying and keepsworking in order be better. She's resilient! 11th Grade - Ashton Derenzy Ashton has made tremendous strides to improve things for himself in the classroom over the course of the school year. His efforts to grow in his organization, responsibility, and decision making in recent months have been impressive and have resulted in concrete evidence of his success, including strong grades across the board. It is not easy to turn things around for yourself, and Ashton's efforts should be commended. 12th Grade - Ella Stuart-Wall Ella is the definition of a 'community builder.-both in class and in school events' Her ability to juggle high-level academic responsibilities, alongside her leadership roles in NHS and the Freshman Mentor program is nothing short of impressive. What truly sets Ella apart, however, is her heart for service. She is a true team leader who approaches every event with creativity and a willingness to help wherever needed. She does all of this with a smile on her face and a true willingness to make BCHS a better place for students and staff alike! Thank you Ella for being you and helping to make BCHS a great place to be! #boynepride

BCHS is proud to announce our February Students of the Month! 9th Grade - LaKenzie Barber LaKenzie had a great first semester and is off to a great start in the second semester. In the first semester, She had all A's while taking a full academic load including CP Geometry and Spanish II as a Freshman. She also competed in Cross Country and Wrestling. When asked about LaKenzie, Coach Herrmann said about Cross Country, "Awesome! She was a hard worker and a great teammate who persevered and supported the team even while battling a painful injury for much of the season." Coach Williamson added, "LaKenzie has had a great wrestling season so far, including a 3rd place finish at a tough wrestling tournament in Kalamazoo. She practices and competes with intensity, pride, and passion." Mr. Thomas said, "She is a great student who is always on top of her academia and class expectation. Great kid all around." Mrs. Hertel said, "She is a strong student, leads by example, kind to others, always prepared, focused." Ms. Calnen added, "Quiet intelligence. Calm confidence. Steady motivation. Often earning top scores and finishes her work before the rest of the class, but you would never know it. She keeps that info to herself; she finds no need to brag. All around great kid." Chef Cole added, "LaKenzie is a good student in my class, she is always helping others in the kitchen, even if they aren't in her group." 10th Grade - Bruyn Hauger When I think of this student, I think of the words kind, hardworking, and humble. He is reliable and motivated, and he's always working to improve himself. He is a student who shows up every day for himself, his classmates, his teammates, and his friends. He puts in the effort and the time to be the best version of himself every day. He is not afraid to make a mistake because he sees mistakes as opportunities to learn. He is a brave and outspoken leader in our class. 11th Grade - Rusty Carpenter Rusty is a hardworking, resilient student who adds so much to our class by frequently sharing his opinions, ideas, questions, and insights. He takes challenging courses and does well in them across the board. In addition to his academics, Rusty is involved in extracurriculars, including tennis and robotics. Rusty consistently has a good attitude, and his sense of humor brightens others' days. 12th Grade - Jack Horning Jack has done very well academically so far this year. He shows responsibility for keeping up with his work and has a sense of maturity about him. He is open to debating tough topics in a civil manner, listening to the other side of an argument and actually thinking about what they are saying. He has a pleasant disposition about him and has been enjoyable to have in class!

We are proud to announce our BCHS January Students of the Month! 9th Grade - JD Dwzik Joe is as steady a student as you will find. He is dedicated and driven to achieve the highest levels of success on everything he does. On 5 regular unit exams this semester, he had a perfect score on 4. Joe went on to receive a perfect score on his final exam as well. A difficult task in itself. He comes prepared each and every day and does it all with a respectful, kind nature. He represents everything it means to be a Rambler in all respects. Thank you so much for your efforts this semester Joe. Impressive beginning to end. 10th Grade - Kiley Harwell I nominated Kiley because she embodies integrity. She strives to go above and beyond in and out of the classroom. She went out of her way to write an award-winning essay (that was not for a grade) for the American Legion. She wrote it because she wanted to push herself. She holds herself to the highest standards, and I think that she needs to be celebrated for her efforts. 11th Grade - Landon Hamilton Landon is a thoughtful, steady student who leads by example, consistently completing all of his work with excellence and taking the time to always do his best. He finished his semester strong with high scores and outstanding writing, and Landon always treats others with respect. 12th Grade - Timothy Payton I would love to recognize Tim Payton with student of the month. Tim is in my Lineworker class as a 2nd year student, which we haven't done before, and Tim has been everything that I could have wished for out of a second year student. He has shown incredible growth, and has stood out as a leader. Last year was a challenge for him in the beginning, as he was afraid of heights, and was literally physically sick as he worked to overcome this, but he did not quit. He overcame it, became proficient, and returned as one of four 2nd year advanced students, and he is shining among them. Without any direction from me, he immediately takes every opportunity to take a task or skill given, and act for all practical purposes as an assistant instructor, passing on the skills he has learned to the new students. He is also an eager ambassador for the program, taking charge at CTE showcase events, and he asks about and looks forward to doing so. I am incredibly proud of him. His cheerful attitude is always great, and he is very much loved by his peers. I look forward to see what he does for the rest of the year and beyond.

BCHS is proud to announce our Students of the Month for December: 9th Grade - Ainsley Hertel Ainsley models precisely what it means to be a mature student. She independently seeks to understand material, and is always diligent in doing what it takes to synthesize class information for her personal understanding. She always truly puts in the work to understand directions and expectations on her own before reaching out for help. When she is out of the classroom, I have yet to remind her of what is expected during her absence. She is always ahead of the curve and seeks that on her own. She shows over and over again her personal ownership of her academic career as well as her determination and investment in her future. It's awesome. Thank you Ainsley for modeling what it truly means to fully take ownership of your education. 10th Grade - Drew Bryant Drew is just awesome. In class, he is always engaged. He asks questions, participates in class discussions, and always produces high quality work. He is kind and social, but he knows when to focus and get work done. It's not always easy to balance school with extracurriculars, but he never complains. He works hard to be a positive influence in the classroom and in our community, and his effort deserves to be recognized and celebrated. 11th Grade - Addison Parks Addison takes on all challenges with a smile. She is a hard-working, dedicated student that will always give you her best. She has a great attitude and it is contagious. She makes my class better just by being in it! 12th Grade - Josie LaCombe Josie LaCombe has had a tremendous 1st semester. She is currently receiving high A grades in all of her classes and has taken on a leadership role in Visual Imaging class. She participates in many co-curricular activities, including: Cheer, Quiz Bowl, Student Mentor, Student Council, and Boyne Meets Broadway. Finally, she also is already serving our country as a member of the National Guard.
