GREAT job to so many of our Industrial Arts students who had a great showing at last week's Regional MITES competition in Mackinaw City. 15 out of 16 projects were able to advance to the State competition, with 8 of these projects taking 1st place overall in their category! The students whose projects made it to the state competition this upcoming week are Garrison Sudderth, Alizebeth Lewis, Will Minnaar, Connor Uy, Wyatt Woodall, Ricky Bristol, Landon Hamilton, Tommy Dobbelaer, Joey Dobbelaer, Deegan Anthony, and Jonathan Shepherd. Boyne City High School is pleased to announce our April Students of the Month! 9th Grade Tanner Sigulinsky: Tanner is constantly taking our classroom conversations to the next level by both answering and asking questions during our classroom discussions. He always comes to class with a great attitude and is willing to learn. His curiosity and positivity is infectious and promotes a class culture that is a lot of fun to be a part of. Thank you for being a leader. 10th Grade Lynsey Hudson: Out of the blue, Lynsey came to me and asked if she could come to the band room and help out when she had extra time. She spent time doing organizational tasks but mostly, offered to work with younger MS students on their playing skills. The students have GREATLY enjoyed working with Lynsey and their playing abilities have easily doubled! She is a great student in Band but also loves helping others and is quite good at it. 11th Grade Chelsey Hertel: Chelsey is a conscientious and diligent student who does high quality work and cares about doing her best. She makes insightful contributions in class discussions and is a great writer and thinker. She shines in academics, athletics, and the arts, and she is just an all-around positive person. 12th Grade Grant Piper: Grant has had a strong year academically, receiving all A's and one B during the first semester. He also has all A's and B's again this semester. Grant consistently meets the expectations of Boyne City High School and is a good example for his classmates. In Building Trades he is one of the first students to grab a hammer. He has a career 3.3 GPA.

Boyne City High School is proud to be the only school in Charlevoix County to offer the Early College (5th Year) program for our students. Today, our cohort from our SD125 class, instructed by Mrs. Amy Hertel, took a field trip to North Central Michigan College. This cohort consists of 14 current sophomores at BCHS who have been accepted into the program. What is Early College? This is a program where a student receives both a high school diploma and a North Central Associate Degree at the end of student's 5th year (13th grade). #boynepride

Yesterday, Avery Calnen (BCHS Science Teacher) and Jim Beckering (BCHS Art teacher) had the opportunity to serve as keynote speakers for a professional development event "The Art of Nature" through Char-Em, which was hosted by the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey. Congratulations to BCHS junior Jonathon Cosier, who is currently attending a Career & Technical Education Welding course at East Jordan for a portion of his day, prior to returning to BCHS for the remainder of his day. Johnny has been selected by the CTE faculty as the March 2025 Career & Technical Education Student of the Month. He plans to pursue a career in roofing or welding. Jonathan enjoys welding and autos. Jonathan is the son of Jody and John Cosier. Congrats, Johnny, we are proud of you! #boynepride

Each year, all seniors participate in both real and mock interviews as part of their senior portfolio. BCHS is proud to announce our students of the month for March! Congratulations to the following students: 9th Grade - Drew Bryant Drew has an amazing attitude. Love having him in class. He is always leading his classmates and helping demonstrate techniques to be successful in the weight room. Drew is a hard worker and he strives to make a difference every day here at Boyne city High School. Love his outgoing personality and charming smile. His personality is contagious! He works hard everyday both on the field/court and in the class room. Proud of the young man he is becoming! 10th Grade - Addy Burns Addy is hardworking, consistent, thoughtful, and kind. She never complains about the challenge of balancing her academics, YAC, Big Brother/Big Sister, sports, and more, and she puts 100% effort into everything she does. Addy is a leader in the classroom, on the court, and in our community. We are lucky to have her! 11th Grade - Zander Shaler Zander has been doing a great job in all of his classes. He keeps up with his assignments and is always respectful to others. He is a great example of someone who is willing to put in the work and try his best in everything he does, even if it isn't his favorite class or material. I really appreciate his work ethic and attitude. 12th Grade - Elizabeth Shaler Ellie is an all around rock-star! Not only has she been working so hard this semester and knocking it out of the park, she is a true leader in the classroom and out. She embodies the true spirit of a Rambler with her ability to connect with others, always offering to help when needed, and greeting the day with a smile on her face. #boynepride

BCHS would like to congratulate our February Students of the Month! Tanner Kelley - 9th Grade Tanner Kelley: Tanner is an energetic, positive, diligent student. He is determined in his efforts to comprehend content as well as a leader in class discussions. His leadership and hard work in the classroom does not go unnoticed. Olivia Farrington - 10th Grade Olivia Farrington: Olivia is a ray of sunshine in our classroom. She is consistently kind and hardworking, and she does not shy away from challenges. She has a strong character, and she has gone the extra mile to demonstrate her strengths in the classroom and beyond. She is a loving friend, a talented student, and an active member of our community. Olivia gives 100% to everything she does, and she deserves recognition for her passion and perseverance. Jack VanZee - 11th Grade Jack VanZee: Jack is kind, diligent, curious, willing to take chances, and a vital part of our class. We are lucky to have him in class and he makes those around him better by his mere presence. Our class is difficult and requires a multitude of strategies and skills to become proficient. Jack works through the challenges of our class with patience and grace. Reese Bey - 12th Grade Reese Bey: "I would like to nominate senior Reese Bey for student of the month. What I absolutely love most about Reese, he is always positive, upbeat, and smiling. In Reese’s free time he helps the RSN crew, works at Boyne Mountain, and works on keeping his grades above average. Reese is in his happy place snowboarding, after High School he is inspired to move to Oregon to help young boarders learn the craft. Reese is deserving of this award as he demonstrates everything we ask from our Rambler student athletes! Reese is having a great senior year and I am proud of the young man he has become. Reese is a leader in my class, and demonstrates so many wonderful qualities. Fun seeing Reese live out his best life! #boynepride

Congratulations to the High School Band on another outstanding performance at District Band Festival. The band earned First Division ratings in every category throughout both concert and sight reading performances! For the seniors, that’s all 4 years of First Division ratings and the 8th year in a row for the HS Band program. What an awesome display of talent and leadership from the entire team. Yesterday at BCHS, our students from our CTE classes received CPR training, with our students truly engaging in the process and asking great questions. A huge thank you to the Boyne City EMS crew of Amanda, Ben, Brenda, Melissa and Donnie for training our students.
