Yesterday, Avery Calnen (BCHS Science Teacher) and Jim Beckering (BCHS Art teacher) had the opportunity to serve as keynote speakers for a professional development event "The Art of Nature" through Char-Em, which was hosted by the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey. Congratulations to BCHS junior Jonathon Cosier, who is currently attending a Career & Technical Education Welding course at East Jordan for a portion of his day, prior to returning to BCHS for the remainder of his day. Johnny has been selected by the CTE faculty as the March 2025 Career & Technical Education Student of the Month. He plans to pursue a career in roofing or welding. Jonathan enjoys welding and autos. Jonathan is the son of Jody and John Cosier. Congrats, Johnny, we are proud of you! #boynepride

A huge THANK YOU to the 23 local businesses and individuals who helped participate in the annual BCHS Interview Fair this morning! Each year, all seniors participate in both real and mock interviews as part of their senior portfolio. BCHS is proud to announce our students of the month for March! Congratulations to the following students: 9th Grade - Drew Bryant Drew has an amazing attitude. Love having him in class. He is always leading his classmates and helping demonstrate techniques to be successful in the weight room. Drew is a hard worker and he strives to make a difference every day here at Boyne city High School. Love his outgoing personality and charming smile. His personality is contagious! He works hard everyday both on the field/court and in the class room. Proud of the young man he is becoming! 10th Grade - Addy Burns Addy is hardworking, consistent, thoughtful, and kind. She never complains about the challenge of balancing her academics, YAC, Big Brother/Big Sister, sports, and more, and she puts 100% effort into everything she does. Addy is a leader in the classroom, on the court, and in our community. We are lucky to have her! 11th Grade - Zander Shaler Zander has been doing a great job in all of his classes. He keeps up with his assignments and is always respectful to others. He is a great example of someone who is willing to put in the work and try his best in everything he does, even if it isn't his favorite class or material. I really appreciate his work ethic and attitude. 12th Grade - Elizabeth Shaler Ellie is an all around rock-star! Not only has she been working so hard this semester and knocking it out of the park, she is a true leader in the classroom and out. She embodies the true spirit of a Rambler with her ability to connect with others, always offering to help when needed, and greeting the day with a smile on her face. #boynepride

BCHS would like to congratulate our February Students of the Month! Tanner Kelley - 9th Grade Tanner Kelley: Tanner is an energetic, positive, diligent student. He is determined in his efforts to comprehend content as well as a leader in class discussions. His leadership and hard work in the classroom does not go unnoticed. Olivia Farrington - 10th Grade Olivia Farrington: Olivia is a ray of sunshine in our classroom. She is consistently kind and hardworking, and she does not shy away from challenges. She has a strong character, and she has gone the extra mile to demonstrate her strengths in the classroom and beyond. She is a loving friend, a talented student, and an active member of our community. Olivia gives 100% to everything she does, and she deserves recognition for her passion and perseverance. Jack VanZee - 11th Grade Jack VanZee: Jack is kind, diligent, curious, willing to take chances, and a vital part of our class. We are lucky to have him in class and he makes those around him better by his mere presence. Our class is difficult and requires a multitude of strategies and skills to become proficient. Jack works through the challenges of our class with patience and grace. Reese Bey - 12th Grade Reese Bey: "I would like to nominate senior Reese Bey for student of the month. What I absolutely love most about Reese, he is always positive, upbeat, and smiling. In Reese’s free time he helps the RSN crew, works at Boyne Mountain, and works on keeping his grades above average. Reese is in his happy place snowboarding, after High School he is inspired to move to Oregon to help young boarders learn the craft. Reese is deserving of this award as he demonstrates everything we ask from our Rambler student athletes! Reese is having a great senior year and I am proud of the young man he has become. Reese is a leader in my class, and demonstrates so many wonderful qualities. Fun seeing Reese live out his best life! #boynepride

Congratulations to the High School Band on another outstanding performance at District Band Festival. The band earned First Division ratings in every category throughout both concert and sight reading performances! For the seniors, that’s all 4 years of First Division ratings and the 8th year in a row for the HS Band program. What an awesome display of talent and leadership from the entire team. Yesterday at BCHS, our students from our CTE classes received CPR training, with our students truly engaging in the process and asking great questions. A huge thank you to the Boyne City EMS crew of Amanda, Ben, Brenda, Melissa and Donnie for training our students. BCHS would like to congratulate our January Students of the Month! #boynepride 12th Grade - Payshence Blatt Payshence has been having a great school year overall. She has been nominated a couple of other times this school year for "Student of the Month" and her grades have been strong. Mostly, she has excelled in the Future Educators Academy, where her supervising teacher Mrs. Fitzpatrick (Kindergarten) states, "Payshence is calm and caring. She is always smiling and has a positive attitude. She is smart and picks up on directions quickly. The students adore her!" 11th Grade - Ben Ivie Ben is truly an outstanding student. He does high quality work, asks thoughtful questions, participates in discussions, and has a great attitude. Ben chooses to tackle extra challenges and takes on leadership roles in and out of the classroom. From math to English to band to quiz bowl and everything in between, Ben exemplifies excellence. 10th Grade - Aden Elzinga I am so proud of Aden! He powered through this semester, even though he had some rough points, and successfully passed his classes! He put in the extra effort he needed to finish the semester strong. When it would have been easier to simply fail, he took charge and said he was going to pass, and he did! 9th Grade - Cecilia Nadeau Cece is one of the hardest working math students I have encountered. She is very responsible about her work, making sure she asks questions and understands concepts, completing work to the best of her ability - and it's some of the neatest work you'll ever read! She's a great student and deserving of recognition.

East Jordan Middle High School CTE Student (attending from BCHS) senior, Zach Piechan, has been selected by the CTE faculty as the December 2024 Career & Technical Education Student of the Month. Zach is a student in Welding and Autos. He plans to be a Diesel Mechanic in the future. Zach enjoys hunting and fishing. He is on the Boyne City High School bowling team. Zach is the son of Kim and Gary Piechan. Congrats, Zach!

Boyne City High School is proud to announce our students of the month for December! Pictured below are Ryleigh Sutherland (9th Grade) and Jeremy Stout (10th Grade). Our junior and senior honorees have chosen not to have their picture posted. 9th Grade Ryleigh Sutherland: Ryleigh is kind and respectful. She is focused and intentional in her studies, currently an all A student. She is helpful to her peers and adds value to our classroom with her calm demeanor and reserved presence. Yet, Ryleigh shines through very brightly in her deeds and carefully curated discussions. Recently, she went above and beyond when asked to make Holiday cards for our local elderly citizens in assisted living facilities that may not have loved ones to visit. On her own time, she made even more and brought them to class. They were exceptional, thoughtful, and very much appreciated. 10th Grade Jeremy Stout: Jeremy has been able to rise above the chaos of 6th hour with awesome grades. His work ethic is phenomenal. He works diligently and also finds time to help others with their Geometry. Jeremy has been an absolute joy. *Our 11th grade honoree has chosen not to be recognized on social media. 12th Grade Clover Stainbrook: This year, Clover has gone out of their way to really participate and take part in all things BCHS. In NHS, Clover has been a standout representative for our group by taking on every opportunity to help volunteer and give back to our community. In our English class, Clover consistently shows dedication to our group discussions and assignments, many times leading the way and encouraging others to share ideas too. Keep leading and helping out, Clover! You are appreciated!
