Congratulations to the Boyne City High School Band on a truly outstanding performance Friday night at District Band Festival. Not only did the band earn its 7th straight First Division rating but their challenging concert performance earned all A and A+ ratings from the judges with comments such as “What a mature sounding ensemble,” “Impressive,” and “An absolute joy to listen to!" During the recent school assembly, BCES 4th Grade students were transported back in time as presenters delved into the rich history of Fort Michillimackinaw. The assembly provided a captivating glimpse into the past through a variety of artifacts and displays. Students had the opportunity to observe authentic clothing worn during the era, gaining insight into the daily lives of settlers and indigenous peoples alike. Additionally, the presenters highlighted the significance of the French fur trade, showcasing items used in trading and emphasizing its impact on the region's economy and cultural exchange. Students also learned about Native American animal trapping and trading techniques, deepening their understanding of the interconnectedness of different communities during this period. Overall, the assembly served as an engaging educational experience, bringing history to life. #boyneinspires

On Saturday February 3rd, 26 of our high school band members performed at District Solo and Ensemble Festival at Kingsley High School. All 22 events earned a First or Second Division rating. The 11 events earning Superior ratings have also earned the right to perform at the State Festival. Special recognition goes to soloists Benjamin Ivie, Alizebeth Lewis, Ruby Richards, both of our Brass quartets, and the entire Woodwind Choir for earning all “A”s on their performances! We are proud of all of your hard work and your outstanding performances!

Varsity Wrestler and LMC champion at 113 lbs, Mason Riccinto secured the 1st place finish in Charlevoix on Friday! Finn Parish and Deegan Anthony took second in their brackets. The team will travel to Gladstone next for team districts on Wednesday.

These BCHS students will be spending the next two days in East Lansing at the MHSAA Women In Sports Leadership Conference. The sophomores and juniors will be participating in leadership activities and sessions with legendary female coaches and leaders from all over the state. Mr. Murlin Green’s Drone Technology class works on the precise skills necessary to fly drones and uses outdoor courses when the weather is nice. The class moves into the gymnasium when the weather doesn’t cooperate. Students in this class work on both the skills of flying the drones and the knowledge to get certification. #BoynePride
